Germany : Postdoctoral Researcher Position - University of Cologne Germany

The University of Cologne offers a position for a researcher in Mathematical Physics. The job opening is for a
Postdoctoral Researcher (100% EG 13 TV-L, 39,83 hours/week) and is limited to two years. The preferred starting date ist October 1, 2012, but the beginning of the contract can be adjusted upon mutual agreement.

The position is associated with a Junior Research Group in Mathematical Physics which is funded by Prof. Zirnbauer's Leibniz Award and led by Dr. Thomas Quella. The interests of the group include topological phases of matter and critical phenomena as well as constructive aspects of quantum field theory and string theory. The group is associated with the Collaborative Research Center (SFB) "Symmetrics and Universality in Mesoscopic Systems" and retains a close cooperation with the groups of Alexander Alldridge and Martin
Zirnbauer.

REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must hold a university degree equivalent to the German Diplom and a PhD in Theoretical Physics or nearby branches of Mathematics. They are expected to have a strong background in (conformal) quantum field theory and/or statistical physics and should
have research experience in one or more of the subjects mentioned above.

HOW TO APPLY
The University of Cologne is an equal opportunity employer in compliance with the German disability law. Applications from women and disabled persons are particularly welcome. Further inquiries can be addressed to Dr. Thomas Quella (Thomas.Quella@uni-koeln.de) to whom

Switzerland Postdoc Scholarships

Course Level:
Postdoc Fellowship

Study Area:
Computational Drug-Target Identification

Scholarship Provider:
ETH Zurich Science and Technology University Switzerland

ETH Zurich Science and Technology University is inviting applications for a postdoctoral fellow in the field of
Computational Drug-Target Identification.

The 2-year position is hosted by the group of Prof. Heinz Koeppl at ETH Zurich (see www.bison.ethz.ch). Goal of the project is to develop novel target identification methods based on models of combinatorial signaling dynamics together with advanced sensitivity analysis. The considered case study is a disease relevant signaling network; the project is performed in collaboration with Novartis Institute of BioMedical Research (NIBR) Basel. Planned milestones involve extension of existing models through interaction databases (2) validating the dynamic model in perturbation scenarios and identifying optimal intervention points through a generalized sensitivity analysis, (3) performing validation experiments at NIBR Basel.

We are seeking outstanding candidates with a good mathematical understanding and experience in dynamical modeling of biochemical reaction networks. The candidate may hold a Ph.D. degree in computer science, applied mathematics, bioinformatics, physics, electrical engineering or biochemistry. The yearly gross salary amounts to EUR 80k. Wet-lab experience is highly appreciated and the successful candidate is expected to acquire necessary wet-lab skills as needed. Candidates should send their publication list and CV including the names and contact details of at least three references per email (in a single pdf) to: koeppl@ethz.ch

Application Deadline:
4th November 2011 (although application will be considered until the position is filled)
